It’s that time of the month again where you get to read about what I’m thinking, doing, visiting, watching, and listening to. And there’s another cartoon from Hugh Macleod which is a pretty big clue as to what Noah, my son, is getting for Christmas (good job he can’t read yet, but then if he could, I doubt he’d be so uncool as to be checking out his Dad’s blog…). I shall, of course, be helping him to learn to play with his new toy come the 25th…
What am I doing?
- Trying to find a decent web storyboarding software package
- Buying everybody’s Christmas presents via the interwebs
- Wiping little people’s bums n noses
- Less twittering – no time, too busy!

Websites that I’ve bookmarked recently
- Thermo – Sneak Peak at Adobe MAX: I want this NOW! Awesome piece of kit that’s gonna make my job 10x easier if Adobe ever get it out of the door…
- Index Investor: not a recent bookmark, but worth the small subscription just for the UK version of the monthly investment analysis newsletter
- 23andme: yeah, I do want to know if I share maternal ancestry with Vlad the Impailer, but I’m not too keen on knowing if I’m more susceptible to Ebola than everyone else. Once I do find out, will I have to disclose this when applying for life assurance? What if I send in someone else’s spit and access their full genome? Spooky…
What am I reading?
- Understanding Your Users (Courage/Baxter): about to become my bible for the next 6 months
- The Afghan (Frederick Forsyth): tosh for the train
- Lost Temple (Tom Harper): more tosh, just not as good as Forsyth’s
What am I watching when I’m home?
- X-Factor: last one coming up. It hasn’t been as addictive as last year’s, but still a lot of mindless fun for a Saturday night
- The Prestige: cracking movie on Sky Premier that’s well worth losing 2 hours of your life for…
- Property Ladder: Sarah’s back, looking a bit perkier than the last series
) - Heineken European Cup Rugby: will Wales manage to get a team through the pool stages this year? Ho hum…
- Extreme Makeover Home Edition: the best feel-good show on TV by a country mile. Miserable people should be made to watch this – it’s guaranteed to melt even the most ice-cold heart. MOVE THAT BUS!
What am I watching via YouTube on my iPhone
- Here comes another bubble: witty web 2.0 takedown video
- The Machine is Us/ing Us: clever
My playlist
- Drowning by numbers (Michael Nyman)
- Soup (The Beautiful South & The Housemartins)
- Wait a minute (James Taylor Quartet)
