It’s been an exciting & interesting first day for The Fincision iPhone Project. Matt & I held a kick off meeting, and managed to achieve a bit more than we bargained for.
- Set up a project management framework using a combination of Basecamp and Harvest
- Agreed names for both our development company and the application itself
- Secured a domain name and hosting with Media Temple
- Completed an initial brainstorm to define the application and its potential features, and parked a number of phase 2 ideas
- Reviewed existing finance apps in the App Store
- Identified a potential developer for our app
- Agreed to hire a designer to make our app look beautiful
- Identified iRise Professional Edition as our preferred prototyping/visualisation tool
- Agreed nature & level of user support that will be offered alongside the app
- Identified & assigned next actions
Matt’s off to review the iPhone SDK and make contact with a developer, whilst I’m going to read through the ‘business’ angle of our potential relationship with Apple and get a day rate from a specialist graphical designer I’ve been keeping my eye on for a while! Next meeting, we’ll look at potential budget, set some project milestones and start work on requirements definition & high level processes. Oh, and we’ll probably have a beer or two as well; thirsty work, this iPhone development stuff…
PS. Thanks for the offer of help, Richard; funnily enough, your name did come up in our discussions today!
The Slate:
Total effort so far: 5 man hours; Total spend: £48.50 (but that doesn’t include, tea, coffee, coke, beer and muffins…)
