My Month: October 2008

After a crazy couple of months, I though October might give me some respite, but how wrong can you get?! Different challenges to the usual, this time though: New York & back in 40 hours; crash course learning a new prototyping tool;  consolidating 4 email accounts, each with a different host, & migrating to a new provider; implementing a new wordpress theme; and teaching Noah to play rugby! More after the jump, if you’re interested…

What I’m doing

  • attending Finovate 08 in New York
  • learning how to use iRise
  • building an iPhone app prototype
  • heading to London for a family Halloween holiday
  • giving Fincision a winter makeover
  • migrating my email & calendar hosting to Google Apps
  • attending Jon Wheeler’s farewell bash

What I’m reading

Websites that I’ve bookmarked recently

  • coveritlive.com – great live blogging tool; can’t wait to use it “in anger”
  • boulevardr.com – hybrid on/ offline US-based advice site; wondering how they’re gonna scale this…
  • inner8.com – sexy US site aimed at self-directed investors
  • justthrive.com – online advice for the millenial generation; interesting!

What I’m watching

  • Heineken European Cup Rugby – gotta love a Heineken weekend: 12 games over 3 days, most of them live on Sky…
  • The Restaurant – this’ll do until the next series of The Apprentice
  • 300 – my favourite movie of 2008 so far; just hoping Hollywood doesn’t decide to make ‘301′…
  • The Rocky Series – ’nuff said.

What I’m listening to

  • Right here right now (David Benoit) – dug this up whilst going through a pile of old CDs (remember them? I’m not talking certificates of deposit…)
  • LA Meetings (Arturo Sandoval) – got that trumpeting thing going on again…
