Following the success of the inaugural Social Media in Financial Services conference in January 2010, I’m delighted to confirm that I will be making a return appearance at Social Media in Financial Services 2. This much-anticipated event, organised by Phil Calvert of IFALife,  is being held on Thursday November 4th 2010 at Beaumont House, Old Windsor, Berkshire.

Fincision’s founder and Managing Director Mike Linskey has been invited to speak at American Express’ in-house conference on “Innovation & Growth out of a Recession” which takes place this Friday (27th November) in London. He will present a financial services view of “Bright ideas that worked and why” to 100 or so delegates from the consumer marketing, insurance, risk & finance teams. Also appearing are speakers from Google, The Future Laboratory, Fresh Networks, Maybourne Hotel Group (owners of Claridges), and Ogilvy.

Mike has also agreed to present at several high-profile events in 2010; watch this space for more details!

After a crazy couple of months, I though October might give me some respite, but how wrong can you get?! Different challenges to the usual, this time though: New York & back in 40 hours; crash course learning a new prototyping tool;  consolidating 4 email accounts, each with a different host, & migrating to a new provider; implementing a new wordpress theme; and teaching Noah to play rugby! • Exotic Preferences: Behavioural Economics and Human Motivation (George Loewenstein) – the first of several books on behavioural finance/ economics that I’ll be immersing myself in over the next few weeks

• Heineken European Cup Rugby – gotta love a Heineken weekend: 12 games over 3 days, most of them live on Sky…

• 300 – my favourite movie of 2008 so far; just hoping Hollywood doesn’t decide to make ‘301′…
• The Rocky Series – ’nuff said.

• Right here right now (David Benoit) – dug this up whilst going through a pile of old CDs (remember them? I’m not talking certificates of deposit…)
• LA Meetings (Arturo Sandoval) – got that trumpeting thing going on again…
